How to join Facebook and the JGS, Inc. Group page
You can view the Jewish Genealogical Society group on Facebook by going to the link. However, you cannot post to the group without being a member of it. Only those who join will receive notices that are sent through “Message to Members” via this group webpage.
To join Facebook go to http://www.facebook.com Follow the directions to join (no fee). Many of us have connected with extended family and made some wonderful genealogical discoveries through this social networking utility. However, if you prefer, your page can be kept completely private so that others cannot request to be a “friend.” Most people like having others find them on Facebook, but you can become private by arranging this under “settings.” Once you are on Facebook, follow the instructions below to join the JGS group.
Once you’ve become a member of Facebook. You may be able to go directly to the JGS group by clicking on: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=62112838856 . Then under the logo picture, click “Join This Group”.
Or: Click "HOME" on your Facebook page. Then go to the bottom of your Homepage and click on APPLICATIONS. Then click on GROUPS. Where it says SEARCH FOR GROUPS, key in "Jewish Genealogical Society-New York" (spell it out). Under the logo picture on the upper right, click “Join This Group”. You can also request that someone who is already in the group invites you to join. Then just “accept.”
